Super Eagles Row: Enyeama Wants To Assassinate Me - Oliseh

Oliseh accuses Enyeama of ‘character assassination’

The last may not have been heard of the row that  recently engulfed the Super Eagles camp in Belgium in the run to the friendly game against DR Congo, as coach of the Nigeria team, Sunday Oliseh, has declared that his person had been maligned by comments made by goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama.

Enyeama sensationally called it quits with the Nigeria national team Thursday morning sayin he was badly treated by Oliseh and that insults were targeted at his late mum.
However, in a new twist Coach Oliseh said Enyeama’s claims were far from the truth.
“To say the least; I am very hurt and disappointed at the character assassination Vincent has taken on my personality as regards this issue. If you want to retire, do so but don’t drag in somebody or insult people who did nothing,” Oliseh began in an interview with the Eagles Media Officer, Tobin Ibitoye, in Belgium on Friday.
Oliseh denied reports that he was angry that
Enyeama joined the national team camp on Tuesday
– a day after the initial deadline for players to
report. The coach said he was fully aware that
Enyeama was burying his late mother over the
weekend.
He said the row started when he had a chat with the
team and registered his displeasure with the players
over their output at the last training session.
Oliseh said while completing his speech, Enyeama
raised his hand to speak and he told him he does not
want any comment at least now, adding that the goal
keeper can air his opinion privately with him
afterwards.
“He (Enyeama) wanted to say something; and I said
this is not the time for that because we just had a talk on how to
improve our game, we will discuss private matters afterwards. He said
no, he wanted to say something and I said no also I don’t want you to
say anything now, please sit down we can talk later but he was
adamant and he started raising his voice against me,” Oliseh said.
Oliseh continued: “It was then I told him that with all due respect, this
is the Super Eagles and I am the coach and we are not going to have
two coaches, I am to decide who talks and when… If you refuse to
accept what I say, then it is better you go out. He was still adamant
and trying to raise his voice. It was then I said it is either you leave or
we (the team) leave the room for you. He refused and then I told him
I will order him to be taken out because he was even stopping his
teammates from having their dinner,” Oliseh said.
The Eagles Coach said it was then other players like Mikel Obi, Ogenyi
Onazi and Ahmed Musa intervened and helped Enyeama out of the
room.
Oliseh also said he offered the goalkeeper the choice of going back
home as he was already causing a distraction to his team.
The Super Eagles Coach maintained that the subject of Enyeama’s late
mum never arose during the argument. He said it was “insane” for
someone to lie about an event that happened in front of as much as
19 witnesses.
Going forward, Oliseh said he had no grudge against Enyeama adding
that the shot stopper has the right to retire from national team
football if he feels it is the best decision for him.
